I've always been completely enamored by the many facets of glass, especially with beams of light shining through it to transform into dancing color prisms on the opposite wall.  Moving color, is also reflected in many of my bargello quilts....

ABOUT BLOWN-AWAY

Growing up, I loved sewing - thus much of what I wore to school was made at home.  The joy of sewing came back into my life around 1999 when I discovered a fabric store in the Raleigh-Duram area in NC .  Oh my gosh! - the colors of the cotton fabric!  So many gradations and variations!  I bought a few yards and that was the start of my stash and craft of quilting.  I grew up watching my Dad blowing pyrex glass pipes and bulbs for gas collection in his lab.  Glass has always fascinated me.  I've always loved sitting in the churches in EU, watching the colors from the stained glass windows dance on the walls.  In 2002, I won the lottery at the UCSD craft center to blow glass for 8 weeks. It was a wonderful experience and always wanted to go back to it.  Following that initial experience, my first focus was on fused glass, starting with coasters and spoon rests.  As of 2 years ago, I ventured into glass blowing again thanks to Marty Marshall of Marshall Arts. After his passing, I've been glass blowing with Cary Sloan of San Diego Glass blowing.  Thought I'm still learning, when I'm in my creative mode, either glass blowing, designing a piece of glass or a quilt, the time spent is in a sacred space of mind. Please enjoy the gallery and if you see something you like, please let me know!

BLOWN GLASS

The gallery displays a number of different blown glass styles, including "incalmo" (see left image) where two glass vessels are fused together and blown larger to create the clean line between vessels.

Each piece of glass is original. No two vessels are the same.  If you see something I've already sold, let me know and I will create something similar.  Commission orders also entertained.

CUSTOM QUILTING

The gallery displays a number of different quilt designs including one of my favorite, the Bargello Quilt.  All my quilts are machine stitched. I also have the ability to digitally design a custom quilt with the fabrics of your choosing.  The final quilting is completed on a computerized long-arm.

Each quilt is original.  If you see something I've already sold, let me know and I will happily create something similar as a commission.

Custom/Commission orders are needed for quilts. Currently, Bargello lap quilts will cost between $350-$500 to prepare, depending on the fabrics and design complexity chosen.

Custom Long-Arm Quilting runs from $0.02 to $0.06 per square inch, depending on the complexity of design.
